Guides

Use the activity timeline

Review meetings, emails, LinkedIn touches, and other activity in timeline or list view.

The Activity Timeline shows the engagement history for an opportunity or related contacts. Use it to understand what happened recently, what is scheduled next, and whether a deal has gone quiet.

Open the timeline

Open an opportunity or another page that includes the Activity Timeline panel.

The timeline loads activities associated with the current opportunity or contact set.

Add a manual activity

Use Add Activity on an opportunity or contact Activity Timeline to log a meeting, email, message, note, or other interaction.

On opportunity timelines, the activity is processed for the opportunity and any selected related contacts. On contact timelines, processing runs for that contact only.

You can also use Add Activity on the Activities list or Quick log activity on Home. Search for contacts and/or opportunities, select the records to associate with the activity, review the processing confirmation, then submit.

Genie can also create activities when you ask it to log an interaction. If processing the new activity would update associated records, Genie should confirm that with you before queueing the processing step.

Choose timeline or list view

Use Timeline View to see activities positioned across time. The timeline highlights recent activity, upcoming activity, and today's position.

Use List View when you want to scan activities newest-first.

Filter activity types

Open Filter to choose which activity types appear:

  • Meetings.
  • Emails.
  • LinkedIn.
  • Other activity.

When emails or LinkedIn messages are included, you can further filter to all messages, inbound messages, or outbound messages.

If activities have multiple owners, use the owner filter to focus on activity from specific team members.

Interpret activity timing

Use the timeline to answer:

  • When did the last meaningful activity happen?
  • Is there a future meeting or follow-up scheduled?
  • Has the buyer replied recently?
  • Which channel has the most recent engagement?

These signals also help other GTM Engine views identify opportunities that need attention.

Open activity details

Click an activity when you need more detail, such as meeting notes, email context, or related records.

If the opportunity needs preparation for an upcoming meeting, use the meeting-prep action when available.

Remove an incorrect association

Automatic matching can sometimes link a call or email to the wrong opportunity or contact. To fix it:

  • In the Activity Timeline on an opportunity or contact, click the unlink icon on an activity row in List View, or open any activity and click Remove from opportunity / Remove from contact in the detail view.
  • On the activity's own page, open the related records (the Related tab for recorded calls) and click the unlink icon next to any opportunity or contact that shouldn't be there.

Removing an association only unlinks the records. The activity, opportunity, and contact are not deleted, and you can add the association back later.
